Tips for Outside Autumn Workouts

Summer has ended and autumn is officially upon us. The days are getting shorter and the wind is getting that little bit chillier but there is plenty to love about autumn, especially when it comes to those of us that enjoy exercising outdoors. We’re here to offer you a few helpful tips when it comes to engaging in physical activity outdoors during the autumn.

Enjoy the Sights

Arguably the most appealing aspect of exercising outdoors during the autumn season is the uniquely serene sights of nature’s intermediary between summer and winter. Whether it’s the mellow orange, yellow, red spectrum of colours that coat the flaura around you, or the seemingly rhythmic way in which leaves are carried off by the quiet gust of the wind; there is a specific feeling of calm that comes with being outside in the autumn. If you pair that feeling with the innately stress-relieving benefits that come with working out you can exercise feeling relaxed, reflective, and highly accomplished. This exact environment and feeling can be achieved at a Prestige Boot Camp.

Use the Correct Gear

This one really applies to any form of exercise you do anywhere, and at anytime, but it is still worth discussing so you at least have a general grasp of what correct actually means in this context. While the transition from summer to autumn can be visually beautiful with its falling leaves that do create an extra slipping hazard when working on that cardio outdoors. Be sure to wear the appropriate footwear when exercising outdoors; whether that’s trail running, cross fit, or hiking.

This advice also extends beyond the gear you wear of course. When biking for example you will want to make sure everything from the seat to the tyres fits the environment you’ll be riding through; make sure you’re correctly equipped for that urban, suburban, or all natural outdoor location.

Wrap Up Right

The correct gear for your workout is one thing, but the chill that comes with autumn is another thing you will need to be ready for. Adequate levels of thermal protection and ventilation is very important and goes beyond just wrapping yourself in layers. Exercise raises your body temperature so you don’t want to going for that jog wearing that ultra thick jumper you would normally hide in sipping hot chocolate on the couch. Thin, breathable, but insulating protection is what you will want to be wearing; plus it will cut down on you feeling completely water logged if you get caught in a sudden downpour. That’s another thing to do: check the weather before starting your work out to give you an accurate idea of what clothing to wear in the first place!

Stay Safe

We’ll end here with some simple bit of safety advice.

It gets darker as we roll further and further into autumn. The sun sits lower in the sky and it’s easy to forget how that sun glare can catch you off guard. Be sure to be safety conscious when exercising outside, both during the day and at night. Wear those reflectors after dusk so everyone else can see you; and be sure to keep a pair of sun glasses handy so that you can see everyone else should the sun come poking out.
