What is a Ketogenic Diet?
The ketogenic diet (often termed keto) is a very low-carb, high-fat diet that shares many similarities with the Atkins and low-carb diets. It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake, and replacing it with fat. The reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis.

When this happens, your body becomes incredibly efficient at burning fat for energy. It also turns fat into ketones in the liver, which can supply energy for the brain. Ketogenic diets can cause massive reductions in blood sugar and insulin levels. This, along with the increased ketones, has numerous health benefits.

Bottom Line: The ketogenic diet (keto) is a low-carb, high-fat diet. It lowers blood sugar and insulin levels, and shifts the body’s metabolism away from carbs and towards fat and ketones.

  1. I think I am going to try this! But I am definitely substituting the maple syrup for sugar-free maple syrup, and I am going to half the ingredients. I don't need that much chocolate.

  2. How can this be ketogenic if you are adding maple syrup? Maybe exchange that for erythritol or stevia or both.

  3. Just made this, not sure what I did wrong, but there was so much oil on top of the chocolate, I let it cool before I put it in the fridge, I mixed and mixed it, still about half inch of oil on top of the chocolate it would not mix together. Now I did use cold pressed unrefined coconut oil, not sure if that was the problem. I did put it in the fridge and it has all kinds of white areas where the oil is, kinda gross looking and it tastes extremely fatty.

  4. damn! can I eat the whole pan at once? lol
    looks good

  5. Could you replace the maple syrup with fiber yum or vita fiber to make it really kept friendly? The maple syrup, even if eaten sparingly, would kick me out of ketosis.

  6. Just found your channel and Im really enjoying your Keto recipes. Please add more. Thanks!

  7. looks like a boat load of carbs with that maple syrup.

  8. so i have done this twice now and both times its been really nice. however i have a problem with one ingredient seperating after its cooled. theres a thick layer of white fat on top with i have to scrape off to get to the chocolate. im almost certain its the coconut oil but i cant figure out why. it is unrefined and i dint have the heat high at all. i cant figure out why it's rising to the top.

only thing i do differently is no maple syrup and only get 90% dark chocolate.

its bugging me because its an awesome recipie and i hate to think im missing out on the separated ingredient. any ideas?

  9. I heard 'WooPep' guide is the best for diet.

  10. by the way what chocolate is that in the uk? i can get 90% dark lindt chocolate is that fine?

  11. i really want to try this but that maple syrup…..i know you said you've since reduced the amount used but is there anything else we could use in instead?

  12. Being diabetic I would not use maple syrup. Great formula though! Looks really good. Worth a try.

  13. Maple syrup is not KETOGENIC! 190 grams sugar per cup. Plus if you added more milk you at lactose to the formula.

  14. I live in the UK, and started keto 5 weeks ago ( lost 19 lbs!). Anyway, don't know if you've heard of a certain chocolate bar called Terry's chocolate orange, but today, at my first attempt, I made individual round versions of this by using an ice tray with round moulds. I used 3 tablespoons of coconut oil, 3 teaspoons of orange extract, one of vanilla, 3 tbsp of cocoa powder, 3 of CACAO powder, pinch of Himilayan pink salt, 6 teaspoons of something called truvia. Tasted one, and believe it or not it tastes exactly like a chocolate orange. They're still keto since there's no sugar, but I didn't want them to be like melty fat bombs.

  15. How much (volume) is a serving, and how many calories in that, please?

  16. In my place to find grape seed oil is very difficult. What do you suggest for substitute? Olive oil? or just an increment in coconut oil?

  17. Maple syrup is not keto compliant

  18. This is really good, and the kids chow it right down. Thanks for the recipe!

  19. I recommend you see "Lose Serious Weight with Ketosis – Live Webinar" published by Eric Berg. Excellent seminar for the serious person wanting to do ketosis right!

  20. too many carb for me to remain in ketosis, cause of the maple syrup = 13,9 g for each tbsp.

  21. Can I replace maple syrup with liquid stevia and raw cacao powder instead of chocolate?

  22. Nutrition Facts for chocolate as shown above:
    81.5% fat calories
    14.5% carb calories
    4% protein calories
You can see that this follows the ketogenic diet. At home, we are used to only using a 1/2 cup of maple syrup instead of 3/4 cup, which reduces the calories as follows:
    85% fat calories
    11% carb calories
    4% protein calories

  23. Isn't this too many carbs for keto?

  24. That chocolate looks AMAZING! Chocolate never looked so good. Excellent video.

  25. you eat chocolate everyday bad boy fat boy

  26. ? How much carb in this all quantity

  27. isn't it too Bitter coz of the 100% chocolate
